Power yoga first.

Power Yoga Music remains a power yoga class. Breath, rhythm, music and flow shape the hour.

My broader background in strength, mobility and other movement disciplines informs how I coach positions, transitions and options. I use those ideas selectively to help people move with more control, use their range more effectively and build strength.

The result remains a recognizable PYC hot power flow. The Movement page explains the broader philosophy and what belongs elsewhere in a well-rounded movement practice.

EXPLORE THE MOVEMENT PHILOSOPHY

What to expect

Expect a recognizable hot power flow, great music, clear coaching and purposeful challenge. Music helps drive the rhythm and energy of this class, but not every movement has to land on a beat. Sometimes the music leads. Sometimes the breath, the position or the work needs more time. The class begins by preparing for what comes next. We build heat, move through the ranges the sequence will use and create active muscular support before the demand increases. The warm-up is not simply a period of passive stretching. Some of these movements may be less familiar in a yoga class. Each is included to prepare a position, range or action used later in the flow, not simply to make the class different.

The physical emphasis, sequence and music may change from week to week, but the identity of the class does not. Every Saturday stands on its own.

Options are offered throughout. You decide when to work, modify or rest. Most of the class remains connected movement. An occasional brief reset may be used when recovery improves the quality of the next strength, balance or skill effort, then the class returns to flow.

What the class develops

Flow, rhythm and breath-led movement.

Balance, coordination and body awareness.

Active mobility and controlled transitions.

Bodyweight strength, isometrics and muscular endurance.

Trunk, shoulder and hip control.

Attention, stillness, enjoyment and community.

What it does not claim to replace

Power Yoga Music does not claim to replace progressive external resistance, genuine pulling, carrying, dedicated aerobic work, power training or individualized care.

Yoga does a lot. It does not need to do everything.

How it fits

Power Yoga Music is one current way to experience the Movement pillar of The One Practice.

It is not the whole Movement pillar and it is not the whole system.

The Movement page explains the broader philosophy, including strength, control, usable range, progression and what belongs elsewhere in a well-rounded movement week.
